Ending Your Tenancy

How to end your tenancy correctly and ensure a smooth departure.

Giving Notice

You must give written notice to end your tenancy. If you have lived in the property for less than 6 months, you must give at least 28 days’ notice. If you have lived there for 6 months or more, you must give at least 84 days’ notice.

Notice Format

Your notice should be in writing (email is fine) and include: your name, the property address, the date you wish to leave, and your signature. We will confirm receipt and arrange a move-out date.

Preparing to Leave

Before you leave, ensure the property is clean, all your belongings are removed, all keys are returned, and final meter readings have been taken. Use our End of Tenancy Checklist to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Deposit Return

After you leave, we inspect the property. If there is no damage beyond normal wear and tear and all rent is up to date, your deposit is returned in full from the deposit scheme, typically within 10 working days.
